Nitrite Test Kit ( Aqua Nite )

Colorimetric test kit that detects Nitrite and Nitrite Nitrogen concentration. The test kit contains 2 reagents. The test shall be conducted for monitoring water quality during long period culture. Ammonia will be converted into nitrite during long period culture. When nitrite is absorbed by fish and other aquatic organisms, it can combine with hemoglobin to cause nitrite toxicity. The test also provides insights about nitrification rate as nitrification consumes dissolved oxygen and is a source of acidity. Nitrification can contribute up to 30-40% of oxygen demand.

Procedure

  1. Rinse the measuring vessel with test sample and fill to 5 ml mark.
  2. Add 2 drops of reagent NITRITE-1 and mix.
  3. Add 2 drops of reagent NITRITE-2 and mix.
  4. After 7 minutes, compare the color (observe the color on the top view of measuring vessel) with the color band.

NOTE:

Sample dilution is needed when reading sample compared with standard is more than 1 ppm of Nitrite (NO2) and Nitrite Nitrogen (NO2-N). Syringe shall be used for sample dilution. The dilution factor is multiplied to get the final result. Please refer the table below of sample dilution.
