Ammonia Test Kit (Aqua AM)

Colorimetric test kits that detect Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN). The test kit contains 4 reagents and 1 reagent AMMONIA-4. The test can be conducted on regular basics to monitor water quality. The test also provides insights on current water condition, and necessity of TAN regulation.

Ammonia that presents in water will form Unionized ammonia (NH3), and Ammonium (NH4+). TAN defines as sums of Unionized ammonia (NH3) and Ammonium (NH4+). Ammonia toxicity mostly depends on Unionized ammonia (NH3) level. Ammonia toxicity will highest when pH and temperature of water are high. Both high pH and temperature conditions favorable Unionized ammonia formation that adversely affect water quality.

Function

  1. Perform Ammonia Water Test
  2. Tool for routinely daily water checking and monitoring of water quality in shrimp/fish pond.

Function

  1. Perform Ammonia Water Test
  2. Tool for routinely daily water checking and monitoring of water quality in shrimp/fish pond.

Method: Colorimetry

200 determinations

Procedure

  1. Rinse the measuring vessel with the test sample and fill to 5 ml mark.
  2. Add 2 drops of reagent AMMONIA-1 and mix
  3. Add 2 drops of reagent AMMONIA-2 and mix
  4. Add 2 drops of reagent AMMONIA-3 and mix
  5. Add 4 drops of reagent AMMONIA-4 and mix.
  6. After 20 minutes, compare the color (Observe the color on the top view of measuring vessel) with the color band.

NOTE:

Sample dilution is needed when reading sample compared with standard is more than 2 ppm of TAN. Syringe shall be used for sample dilution. The dilution factor is multiplied to get the final result. Please refer the table below of sample dilution.

Distilled water (ml) Sample (ml) Ratio Factor
1 4 5/4 1.25
2 3 5/3 1.67
3 2 5/2 2.5
4 1 5/1 5
9 1 10/1 10
19 1 20/1 20
39 1 40/1 40
