Description

The test kit able to detect Alkalinity Value which comprise of Total Alkalinity and Bicarbonate Alkalinity. The test kit contains 3 Reagents and Reagent 1 refill. The test can be conducted on weekly basics to monitor pH buffering capacity of water. Optimum level of Total Alkalinity able minimize pH fluctuations.

Function

  1. Perform Water Alkalinity Test with high accuracy.
  2. Tool for routinely daily water checking and monitoring of water quality in shrimp/fish pond.

METHOD: Titration

200 determinations.

Procedure

  • Rinse the measuring vessel with the test sample and fill to 5 ml mark.
  • Add 1 drop of REAGENT 2 and mix. If the water sample turns pink. Add REAGENT 1 drop by drop and mix well after addition of each drop until color of water sample changes from pink to colorless (Count the number of drop).
  • Add 1 drop of REAGENT 3 and mix. The water sample turns blue.
  • Add REAGENT 1 drop by drop and mix well after addition of each drop until color of water sample changes from blue to orange (Count the number of drop)
  • Read the value of Total Alkalinity and Bicarbonate Alkalinity from Table of Alkalinity Value.

NOTE:

If the water sample does not change to pink after adding REAGENT 2, addition REAGENT 3 can be continued.

If water sample change pink after addition of REAGENT 2. The pH of water likely above 8.0.

FORMULA

Total Alkalinity (ppm): 10 x Total number of drops of REAGENT 1 using to change color of water sample from pink to colorless and from blue to orange respectively.

Bicarbonate Alkalinity (ppm): Total Alkalinity- (Number of drops of REAGENT 1 using to change from pink to colorless x 20)
